Auto Mapping Labels

The auto map feature provides the ability to automatically update recodes between studies. This feature helps to reduce the amount of work necessary to update recodes when a new study (ie. new year or quarter) is released.

To Auto Map a Recode

1. Choose one of the following:
   • Click the icon on the toolbar.

   • From the Tools menu, choose Auto Map.

The Table Auto Mapping dialog box will appear.

2. Choose a table from the list displayed in the Mapped Tables list box. mTAB will borrow the recode definitions from this table and apply those definitions to the current table.

3. Choose a mapping option from the Mapping Option box.
   • Overwrite Existing Links will remove all current map definitions and replace them with the map defiinitions contained in the selected Map Table.

   • Incremental Mapping will only map those old labels which have not been mapped. Old labels already mapped will not be affected.

4. Click OK to proceed with Auto Map process.
